Are the tours handicapped accessible?

Yes. Elevators are available.

Do I have to book a tour in advance?

Yes, advance group reservations are necessary. Individuals may join a tour at the published times without a reservation.

How long are the tours?

Tours are approximately 1 hour long.

Is there a charge for the guided tour?

No

Where do the guided tours begin?

Monday through Friday guided tours begin at the information desk located at the west entrance of the Legislative Office Building (first floor by the revolving door). Visitors can join a tour in progress in the south lobby of the Capitol. Saturday tours (provided April through October) begin at the southwest/Capitol Avenue entrance to the Capitol.

How many people can go on a guided tour at one time?

The maximum is 30 participants per tour and two tours per hour.

Are self-guided tours permitted? Are there self-guided booklets available?

Yes. Self-guided booklets for the State Capitol, Legislative Office Building and Capitol Statuary can be found on the brochure racks at the Information and Tours Desk in the Legislative Office Building and at room 101 in the State Capitol (1st floor by the double elevators).

Is there a gift shop at the Capitol?

Yes. A small gift shop/newsstand is located on the first floor of the Legislative Office Building. It is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. Capitol souvenirs are also sold from the Information and Tour desk at the west entrance to the LOB.

Is photography and videotaping permitted?

Yes, though photography of school tour groups is subject to school rules.
